1. Overview

Northfox is a local-first application. Your data belongs to you. This policy explains what we collect, what we do not collect, and how your information is handled when you use Northfox.

2. Data Stored Locally

All notes, research, annotations, and application data are stored on your own machine. Northfox does not upload, sync, or transmit your local data to any Northfox server. Nothing leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it.

3. Prompts and AI Model Requests

When you interact with Northfox, your prompts and any associated context (such as market data or document excerpts) are sent to a third-party AI model provider in order to generate a response. This transmission is necessary for the product to function.

Northfox does not store the content of your prompts or the model's responses. The data sent to the AI provider is subject to that provider's own privacy and data retention policies. We select providers that do not use your inputs to train their models, but we encourage you to review their policies directly.

4. Account and Email

If you create a Northfox account, we collect your email address for authentication and account management purposes only. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties. We do not send marketing email unless you have explicitly opted in.

5. No Tracking or Analytics

Northfox does not embed third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or behavioural profiling tools. We do not build a profile of how you use the application.

6. No Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information or usage data with any third party, except as required by law or as strictly necessary to operate the service (e.g., transmitting prompts to an AI model provider as described in Section 3).

7. Data Retention

Because your notes and research are stored locally, you control their retention entirely. Account data (your email address and subscription status) is retained for as long as your account is active and deleted upon request.

8. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and any associated account data at any time by contacting us. Because application data is local, deletion of local data is entirely within your control.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the application or by email.
